About

I make artworks to live with. It celebrates the shared wisdoms, the support and the technology which sustain us.

I work predominantly with stoneware, slips, and transparent glaze. I love letting the clay be the decoration itself. I throw almost all of my plates, pots and mugs, and pull the handles. Sometimes I drape mould for composite designs. I make marks with old electrical components, brushes and slip trailers.

I look hard at communication and exchange, elevating the material network to centre stage- currently represented by thoughts about silica which makes up silicon chips and is also present in ceramics.

Using clay, salvaged copper, cables and electrical components, my work investigates the hidden infrastructure of the interaction between these things.

By exposing the elemental components which enable our global communications, I try to build a personal relationship with them, and invite others to engage too.

Connections and cables, circuits and networks are rendered in traditional slipware inspired by traditions continued over hundreds of years
